SIPITANG OIL & GAS INDUSTRIAL PARK Sipitang Oil & Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP) is located in Sipitang district, approximately 12 kilometres from Sipitang town. It is about 150km south of Kota Kinabalu city centre and take about 2.5 hours travel from Kota Kinabalu to Sipitang. SOGIP is the first integrated industrial park designated for oil & gas and heavy industries in Sabah. SOGIP has extensive lands up to 5,539 acres, inclusive both land and sea land. SOGIP LOCATION FACILITIES & INFRASTRUCTURES INVESTMENT SOGIP Advantages Availability of Land The total land area in SOGIP is 3,068 acres (1,241 hectares) of onshore land and 2,471 acres (1,000 hectares) of offshore area for oil and gas development. Sufficient of Water Depth Besides located in strategic location, SOGIP has sufficient water depth (16 to 25M) which enough to cater for Single Buoy Mooring (SBM) for Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC) and also has availability of vessel anchorage. Strategic Location SOGIP is located at a sheltered area of Brunei Bay and close proximity to Pulau Muara Besar Development. Besides, it also nearby to major shipping lane and close proximity to Labuan, where the Asian Supply Base located. An addition, Asian Supply Base is globally recognized as an efficient and reliable supply base for the Oil & Gas Industry. Pan Borneo Highway & Asia Pacific LNG Route Strategically located within the busy LNG route in the Asian Pacific region as well as Pan Borneo Highway connecting and reducing travel time by road to/from Sabah-Sarawak. Investment Opportunities SOGIP is the first oil and gas development in Sabah focusing on petrochemicals. It will be the catalyst for the development in Sabah along the west coast. The development of the park must be aligned with ETP and SDC for oil and gas sector and be beneficial to the state of Sabah. PETRONAS FLNG3 Sabah’s First LNG Facility at SOGIPThis project marks the development of Sabah’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility at the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP), with a total investment value of approximately RM8.8 billion. The project involves the construction of a nearshore floating LNG facility, designed to enhance gas processing and distribution capabilities in the region. It is a strategic collaboration involving Sabah Oil and Gas Development Corporation (SOGDC) and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS). This facility is expected to strengthen Sabah’s energy infrastructure by supporting a more efficient and flexible gas supply system, including LNG virtual pipeline distribution. It will also stimulate downstream activities such as storage, transportation, and energy trading. As part of the broader development of SOGIP into a regional energy hub, the project contributes to positioning Sabah as a key player in Southeast Asia’s energy sector. LNG, as a cleaner-burning fossil fuel, will also support the transition towards more sustainable energy sources. The project is anticipated to generate significant economic benefits, including job creation, workforce development, and increased investment in Sabah’s oil, gas, and energy industries. PETRONAS GAS BERHAD (PGB) Power Plant at SOGIP This project involves the development of a power plant by PETRONAS Gas Berhad at Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP), with an estimated investment of approximately RM230 million. The plant is intended to provide reliable power supply to support industrial activities in SOGIP, strengthening infrastructure and supporting Sabah’s growth as a regional energy hub.
