The Sabah International Blue Economy Conference (SIBEC) 2024, which focuses on sustainable ocean and coastal management practices, aims to unite policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders to discuss innovations and strategies for promoting a blue economy. SIBEC 2024 aims to promote ocean resource-based economic development in Sabah, focusing on the fisheries sector, renewable energy, and marine tourism. The conference also serves as a platform to introduce new technologies and attract investments through exhibitions and interactive sessions.
The two-day conference, held from October 19 to 20, was officially opened by YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim the Prime Minister of Malaysia.The Sabah Oil and Gas Development Corporation (SOGDC), a strategic partner of SSMJ, is led by YBhg Datuk Harun Ismail, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, who actively supports the successful realization of SIBEC 2024. Additionally, SOGDC set up a booth to provide the public with more information about its initiatives and contributions to the blue economy.
