Blue Hydrogen Initiative
Sabah Oil & Gas Development Corporation (SOGDC), on March 28, 2022, has entered into a Joint Collaboration Agreement (JCA) with Sonoma Resources Co., Ltd. a Korea based strategic and financial advisory firm together with EMOG, a local Malaysian energy expert. This JCA is part of “Sabah Maju Jaya, 2022” and is entered to promote the development of Sipitang Oil & Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP) into a nation’s leading hydrogen hub.
Under this JCA, Sonoma Resources will work closely with SOGDC in developing a state-of-the-art LNG to Liquid Ammonia conversion facility (the “Project Company”) in Sipitang Oil & Gas Industrial Park(SOGIP) along with Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) and ca captive power plant. Both SOGDP and Sonoma Resources plan to work closely with potential off-takers from Korea to create a steady and logistically favorable ties between Malaysia and Korea for the import-export of liquid ammonia to meet the hydrogen economy roadmap set out by each nation.
Sonoma Resources together with its affiliate group, Global Infrastructure and Development Partners (GIDP) in Korea since the signing of the JCA, has actively been discussing with major Korean industry leaders for their participation in the Project including technology and investments.
